Here we see the first use of animals' hides in order to cover shame, although I cannot say for sure that animals were eaten, it seems that they were. We know that these animals could communicate with Adam and his wife, and I would think it strange that Eloheem would have them killed for the sake of food and clothing, but later we see Abel sacrificing sheep to Eloheem, and this implies the killing of these innocent talking little beings was practiced. Imagine slitting the throat of a lamb you knew from a baby, you communicated with, raised and loved? You did this to provide clothing for your family. Thus the consequences of selfish sin, many others suffer for no good reason. But as strange as it may seem, it provides us with a foreshadow of what would happen when mankind increased upon the earth, and what he would do to his fellow man. Now one thing here to notice is that Eloheem is the one who appoints the use of the skins, and is the one who clothes them. I wonder if Eloheem also taught them how to properly treat the skins with the use of tannic acid, or other treatments found naturally, and the art of making thread and patterns needed to form the leather into outfits. At this point I can only assume he showed them, or that they had received that knowledge after eating from the forbidden tree. It's interesting to note that they did know how to sew fig leaves to hide their shame.
