I decided to use the words "to die" rather than the traditional "surely" in the second to last word, because it is almost as if God is saying, "if you want to kill yourself, you will succeed and die." In other words, if Adam eats from the tree, it is because he knows it will kill him, and there will be no turning back. Notice that Adam is told where in the Garden, this tree of knowledge is, but he is not told were the tree of life is. My guess is that he never found it.
